The organizing committee of the
ENCUENTRO DE PIANISTAS COSTA RICA
announces its tenth edition to be held in both in-person and virtual formats from January 25 to 30, 2026, in the city of San José.
On this occasion, the main theme of the conference will be THE FOOTPRINT OF SPAIN IN PIANO MUSIC, in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of the composer Manuel de Falla y Matheu (1876-1946) and the 125th anniversary of the birth of Joaquín Rodrigo Vidre (1901-1999).
Proposals for presentations of other topics that are related to other repertoires, piano performance and teaching, as well as composition, musicological research, music theory and analysis related to the instrument will be considered. However, priority will be given to proposals related to the main topic.
Proposals for participation in the format of conferences, recitals-conferences, recitals (solo, duo piano, chamber music), master classes and demonstrative presentations will be considered. The regular presentation time is limited in spaces of 45 to 60 minutes that will be presented in person or in pre-recorded video format.
Presentations on the theme THE FOOTPRINT OF SPAIN IN PIANO MUSIC may refer to:
* Works for piano and chamber music by Manuel de Falla and Joaquín Rodrigo.
* Repertoire framed during the contemporary era to the lives of the composers in commemoration, and reflecting their influences and styles.
* Spanish repertoire for piano (or chamber music with piano) from any historical period.
* Repertoire from any era or nationality that is inspired by Spanish music or extra-musical elements from that culture.
The reception of proposals will be from July 1 to August 31, 2025. Acceptances will be communicated no later than September 30, 2025.
